Quizzoo is a free quiz game for children aged 5 to 14 and their grown-ups. A quick round is ten questions on times tables, spelling, flags, capitals, space, dinosaurs and more. It runs in a web browser, with no sign-up and nothing to install.

What a child does on it
A child picks a topic or an age and answers a round of questions, most often ten. After each answer the game shows the right one, with a short fact or a way to work it out. A finished quiz earns up to three stars.
- Short rounds of ten questions that fit before tea or between lessons.
- Pictures, sounds and read-aloud questions for younger players.
- It remembers what you got wrong and brings it back until it sticks.
- No accounts and no sign-up. Progress stays on your device.
There are 12 topics: flags of the world, capital cities, the world map, maths, biology, space, dinosaurs, history, landmarks, the elements, spelling, and how to say hello in other languages.
Reading each question aloud is a switch in Settings, and it uses the voice built into the device. It is off until you switch it on. Sound effects, four text sizes and a dyslexia-friendly font are in Settings too.
The only links out of Quizzoo are two round buttons for its own Facebook page and group. In the game they sit at the foot of the Welcome and Home screens and in the Grown-ups area. Nothing leads out of the site during a round or on a results screen.
How to pick the right age
There is a quiz for each age from 5 to 13, and each is pitched at a school year in England. The quizzes for ages 5 to 7 use short questions. Most have answers to pick from, and some sums are answered on a number pad, so nobody has to type a word. If a quiz is too easy or too hard, move one age up or down. The quizzes for 12 and 13 year olds are the hardest of the age quizzes and play at the same level, so the quiz for 13 year olds is the one for a 14 year old too.
| Age | School year | What it asks | Play |
|---|---|---|---|
| Age 5 | Reception and Year 1 | Counting on and back, sums that make 10, flags of famous countries, which animals are birds, and which dinosaur ate plants. | |
| Age 6 | Year 1 | Adding and taking away within 20, the Sun, the Moon and the planets, what kind of animal each one is, and first spellings. | |
| Age 7 | Year 2 | The first times tables, a few capital cities, the human body and its senses, and true or false questions. | |
| Age 8 | Year 3 | Times tables, capitals of well-known countries, what dinosaur names mean, and words from the Year 3 and 4 spelling list. | |
| Age 9 | Year 4 | Place value and rounding, where the great landmarks are, which event came first, and a first look at the periodic table. | |
| Age 10 | Year 5 | Fractions of amounts, flags that are easy to mix up, history put in order, and words from the Year 5 and 6 spelling list. | |
| Age 11 | Year 6 | Percentages and negative numbers, capital cities, which elements are solids, liquids or gases, and the human body. | |
| Age 12 | Year 7 | Flags that are easy to mix up, world capitals and element symbols that come from Latin. | |
| Age 13 | Year 8 | Three-digit sums and dividing by a two-digit number, capitals people mix up with a more famous city, element symbols, and true or false questions about space. |
A gold button is a Play link. It starts that quiz in the game straight away.
Inside the game each player can select their age: any age from 5 to 13, 14 and up or Grown-up. Quick Play, a quiz on one topic, Mix It Up and the Daily Challenge then fit that age. The Home screen asks under the words Select your age.
How to change a player's age
On the Home screen, press the player's character at the top, then View profile, then Edit. Under Select your age, press the new age, then press Save. The same screen changes the player's name and character.
Playing together
Party Mode is for two to six players on one device. Pass it around and everyone plays at their own level: Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert. A right answer scores the same on every level, so Easy can beat Expert.
That makes kids against grown-ups a fair game. Put the children on Easy or Medium and the grown-ups on Hard or Expert, add a guest by name for a grandparent or a friend, then choose one topic or a mix and five or ten questions each. The quizzes for the oldest ask things that plenty of grown-ups find hard.
Up to six players can each keep their own name, character and progress on one device.
The Daily Challenge, a small daily habit
Ten questions made for the player's age, the same ten that day for everyone of that age, in the same order, with no timer. Each player gets one go, and new questions arrive at midnight. The game counts the days played in a row as a streak.
The questions are flags, capitals, maths and biology. For ages 5 to 7, dinosaurs and space take the place of capitals. There are four sets a day: for ages 5 to 7, for age 8, for 9 and 10, and for 11 and up. A player with no age gets the set for age 8. The result can be copied to share as a score, a streak and a grid of squares. It holds no answers, so nothing is spoiled for anyone else.
Questions for the car or the dinner table
Beside the game there are 27 pages of questions with their answers, among them one for each age and one for each topic. Read the questions out and tap Show answer to check each one. Nobody but you needs a screen.
Printable sheets
Each sheet is two PDFs of one A4 page each. The question sheet has a line for a name and a date, and room to write. The answer sheet is for you: each answer sits in the same place as its question, with the line of explanation the game gives.
Print the question sheet for your child. Keep the answer sheet for yourself.

What is saved, and how to move or wipe it
Quizzoo has no accounts. A player is a name, a character, an age if you pick one, and their progress, all saved in your own web browser on the device you play on. Because progress lives in the browser, clearing the browser's data clears Quizzoo too.
About Quizzoo: what is saved on your device
The Grown-ups area
On the Home screen press Grown-ups, then hold the button for 3 seconds. It is a speed bump to keep younger players out, not a password. Inside, a grown-up can:
- Move to another device. Export progress saves every player's progress in one file. On the other device, Import progress loads it. You see what is in the file before anything changes, and it replaces the players that were there.
- Reset one player. Levels, achievements and the mistakes pile go back to zero. The name and the character stay.
- Delete one player. The player and all of their progress are removed from the device.
- Reset everything. Every player and all progress go, and settings return to normal. There is no undo, so export first if you might want it back.
- See how it is going. Each player's accuracy by topic, the time played this week, and what needs practice.
What it costs
Quizzoo is free to play. To pay for its upkeep it may one day carry adverts suitable for children, or offer optional plans for families or schools.
